Presp'art

The topic of the “Presp'art” Youth Exchange which took place from 13-27.07 2009 was combining cultural heritage with innovative and creative approaches in art. It took place in Prespa – a rural and isolated region in Greece, on the border with Macedonia and Albania, rich in culture, history and traditions.

35 young people from Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Austria, France and Italy spent two weeks together, sensibilizing themselves towards history, tradition, culture and art and finding the place for these in contemporary life. Participants were divided into five groups (painting, installation/sculpture, video, theater without words and creative writing). Together with our partners we selected an old photograph from Prespa. Each group had to create something inspired by the photo in a modern, innovative and creative way, by using the art of the working group they were participating in. Each group consisted of one member from each of the partner organizations, so as to have more international groups and more creative and innovative final results, because of the variety of cultures represented. The artistic part of the exchange was accompanied with lectures, workshops, trips around Prespa, social events and other, all contributing to the general objectives of the exchange. By creating a final result based on the different cultures of each group, all the participants had the occasion to understand the richness of cultural diversity at the European level.
