From 24 to 31 October 2025, the global community marked the Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week, led by UNESCO, under the timely and powerful theme “Minds Over AI – Media and Information Literacy in Digital Spaces.”

In an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, algorithms, and digital platforms, this year’s theme highlighted a crucial message: technology must serve human judgment, not replace it. The week called for strengthening critical thinking, ethical awareness, and media literacy skills – empowering citizens, especially young people, to navigate AI-driven information environments responsibly and confidently.

Throughout the week, educators, youth workers, journalists, civil society organisations, and institutions worldwide joined efforts to promote informed decision-making, resilience against misinformation, and democratic engagement in digital spaces.

💡Media and information literacy remains a cornerstone of inclusive, informed, and democratic societies – especially as AI continues to transform how we access, create, and share information.
