From 20–26 June, Jonilda Dema and Sibora Lohja, activists of Beyond Barriers, had the opportunity to participate in the “Balanced Clicks” training in Karlovac, organized by DrOne. The training brought together young people from across Europe to explore how digital life affects our well-being and to discover healthier ways to use technology.

The experience was full of interactive workshops, discussions, and activities that show how refreshing it feels to disconnect and help us rethink what we post online. Reflecting on digital burnout, FOMO, and the constant pressure to be online, learning that even small changes can make a big difference for our mental health.

What was most appreciated was the focus on balance. The training wasn’t about quitting social media, but about using technology more intentionally. Collaborating in diverse teams, sharing personal experiences, and learning from peers across Europe made the experience even more meaningful.

Since the training, we’ve started taking mindful breaks from screens, using digital tools with purpose, and being more present in the moment. Beyond gaining practical skills, this journey gave us confidence, friendships, and a fresh perspective on digital life. It was inspiring, eye-opening, and truly unforgettable- says Jonilda and Sibora.

Beyond learning, it was a chance to meet new people from different cultures. I felt truly seen and supported in a diverse group, and it reminded me how universal these challenges can be.
