As part of the In Touch Project manual for inclusive non-formal education, we organized a unique “Football with Goggles” activity to foster empathy, teamwork, and non-verbal communication skills among students with and without hearing impairments. The activity involved students creating and wearing handmade goggles that simulated limited vision, providing an experience similar to sensory challenges faced by individuals with visual impairments.
Through this playful yet impactful exercise, participants learned to adapt, communicate non-verbally, and support one another, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity. The shared experience helped break barriers and encouraged students to collaborate and navigate the field using creative strategies. A reflective discussion at the end of the game highlighted the importance of empathy and adapting to the diverse needs of teammates, reinforcing key lessons in teamwork and mutual understanding.
